In particular, Humphries justified the big extension the Cardinals gave him this offseason with an 88.3 overall grade that paired the improvement he showed in pass protection in 2019 with the stronger run blocking that he showcased earlier in his career. As a run-blocking unit, the Steelers ranked 24th in the league in grade, generating just 0.9 yards before contact on average (29th). The important footnote there is that Roethlisberger is also getting rid of the football quicker than any quarterback weve charted since 2012 (2.17 seconds on average). There really wasnt a whole lot of movement from the Rams this past offseason to add to the group, so the change centered around improvement from the players who were already on the roster. Washingtons offense should have been far better than it was this season given the platform the team was getting from its offensive line. RG Trey Smith Garett Bolles was rated as the 40th-best offensive lineman by PFF, the highest among any Bronco. RT Morgan Moses | 70.9. David Bakhtiari played all of 27 snaps in Week 18 last year and missed the team's playoff loss while recovering from his 2020 ACL tear. LG Joe Thuney | 80.6 LT Rashawn Slater | 83.7 Offensive line coach Bill Callahan deserves a lot of credit for the job he has done with this group this season. RT Tristan Wirfs | 85.0. The offensive line's ultimate performance will obviously depend a lot on how quickly rookie Ikem Ekwonu can adjust to pass protecting at the NFL level after he earned only a 78.3 pass-blocking grade last season for N.C. State. Andrew Whitworth now 40 years old was arguably the best pass-blocking left tackle in the NFL this season. Starting two rookie offensive tackles both from Air Raid offenses is a scary proposition. They allowed pressure in 2.5 seconds or less on 28% of their dropbacks the worst rate in the NFL. LG Ali Marpet | 84.0 The 2020 season was just another chapter in what has been an underrated career for the 2008 first-round pick. The Buffalo Bills did not see their offensive line have the best of years in 2022. The Cowboys will be hoping to stay healthy both along the offensive line and at quarterback in 2021 to realize the offensive potential that everyone expected them to run with this season. The New England Patriots are one of the few NFL teams with both a good starting five on the offensive line and backup talent on the bench. Hes earned overall grades of 53.8 and 57.6 in his two NFL seasons, although he'll be only 23 years old at the start of the 2022 season. Big V was the unit's lowest-graded starter last season, and he still earned a 68.4 overall mark. Tyron Smith earned a 91.9 PFF grade this season, a career high and the first time he has been above 90.0 since 2015. RT Tom Compton | 86.4. Those two are having another strong year on the outside for the Saints, but the reason they arent higher on this list is the play theyve got from their guards in 2020. They not only have high-end talent in Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell, who both can be top-five players at their respective positions, but they also dont have any glaring holes. Brandon Knight and Terence Steele especially struggled to hold up, as both allowed pressure rates north of 7% for the season. Right tackle was held down by a combination of Sam Young, Brandon Parker and Good when Brown wasnt on the field. This is a conservative estimate for what was one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL last season but it's one that is now bursting with potential after multiple offseason moves. Only two of those seven players didnt play multiple positions. The answer, though, could also be Trey Pipkins, who looked much improved at the end of 2021 after enduring multiple rough starts in his first two NFL seasons. Although the Eagles could lose right guard Isaac Seumalo to free agency, their front five should keep rolling thanks to offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. LT Dion Dawkins | 77.5 Only the Miami Dolphins recorded a worse pass-blocking efficiency score than the Titans' offensive line this season. They were the 30th-ranked run-blocking group in the NFL, and the only real bright spot was Laremy Tunsil at left tackle, who was once again one of the better pass-protecting left tackles in the NFL, earning his second consecutive pass-blocking grade of 85.0 or higher. The Eagles will hope that 2021 brings some more stability, giving whoever is back at quarterback for the offense a few more clean pockets to work from. The Bucs pulled off the fleecing of the offseason in retooling what could have been a depleted interior offensive line. RT Lael Collins | 84.0. Skoronski recorded the highest PFF pass block grade in the FBS last season (93.0). Injury and then an appendectomy limited him to just 597 snaps, but David Bakhtiari didnt allow a sack or a hit all season and surrendered only 10 hurries on 339 pass-blocking snaps. It's not shocking USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the . Its safe to say that contract has paid off for Buffalo. If Samuel Cosmi can build upon his 74.9 overall grade as a rookie, Washington will have itself a solid tackle duo. Theres an argument to be made that no offensive lineman finished the season hotter than Cody Whitehair did after moving over from center to left guard in Week 12. Darrisaw earned a 71.9 overall grade on 652 snaps last season and got stronger as the campaign wore on. The Cardinals had their share of issues along the interior of their offensive line, but considering where this group was coming from back in the 2018 season one of the worst offensive lines in recent memory a 12th-place finish here doesnt look all that bad. The PFF grades are built to factor that in, however, and Pittsburghs offensive line still finished the regular season ranked fourth in pass-blocking grade. The new gold standard at the center position when it comes to run blocking, Creed Humphrey also didnt give up a sack all season and earned a 79.7 PFF pass-blocking grade.
